Legends has it that King James I, the Conqueror, on his way to “Majorca” to conquer the island was nearly sinking his expedition, due to a big storm. On that moment, the king promised the Virgin Mary to build a temple dedicated to her if he managed to finish his journey. The storm calmed down, so the monarch and his troops were able to reach the island! The king then decided to keep his promise and today we have this spectacular piece of art, ‘’La Seu’’ as the icon of the island.
